Lucid Fly, led by vocalist Nikki Layne and guitarist Doug Mecca, blends melodic heaviness with progressive elements, continuously pushing boundaries in the realm of meaningful artistic rock.
Often likened to Evanescence, Karnivool, and A Perfect Circle, their music weaves varying time signatures and key changes, offering a satisfyingly unpredictable listening experience that deepens with each replay.
In a defining moment for the band, Lucid Fly was selected by Mike Portnoy as one of 17 unsigned acts to join the Progressive Nation at Sea's 2014 lineup, sharing the stage with luminaries like Periphery, Animals As Leaders, Haken, and more.
Their discography includes Adapting to Gravity (2005), The Escape Stage (2009), Stasis (2015), and Building Castles in Air (2016) - an album that garnered praise, earning placements on numerous 'Best of 2016' lists, including DPRP, Musicology (UK), and Headbangers LatinoAmerica.
Recently, Lucid Fly entered the studio with Grammy-nominated producer/mixer Eric Emery, vocalist for Skyharbor, renowned for his work with artists like Blink-182, Starset, and Periphery. Mastering was entrusted to Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios in Orebro, Sweden, whose credits include Billie Eilish, Katatonia, and Opeth. The artwork was meticulously crafted by acclaimed graphic artist and illustrator Travis Smith, known for his work with Katatonia, Devin Townsend, Opeth, among others.
